I’ve been wanting to make a cute pair of baby bloomers ever since I saw them in Heather Ross’s Weekend Sewing book a few years ago. One of my friends recently had a baby, and I finally had a (great) reason try out a pattern that I’ve been hanging onto for a few years. And what better fabric to use for a brand new baby than a fun print from Petit Pan?!
Mostly I thought they would be a quick and easy gift to make, but once I got started, I realized that I just had to do a matching dress… so that ended up taking a little more time than I expected. Size-wise I really had no clue, so I decided to do the Small (not Newborn) and I’m crossing my fingers that it will be wearable for at least this summer!
In the future, I envision myself becoming so proficient at these little bloomers that I can make sets of three in fun prints for all the newborns in my life!
These are the patterns I used:
Bloomers: Butterick B5624 (letter F)
Dress: Butterick 3405 (letter C)
And I found this wonderful online tutorial on how to do rosettes!
