Urban Sketching: Brussels Winter Street Scene

I confess! Well it’s no big surprise really that I’ve been dragging my feet about posting on here. In trying to think of interesting, useful, important things to say, I’ve not been saying anything at all.

Today I decided to work fast! This watercolor was done as the last light of day was slipping behind some buildings I could see from my window (that is, sitting on the windowsill with my feet up on the heater). The whole day was dreary, rainy, windy, gloomy, and the second I decided I would paint a reflective wet-grey scene—guess what—the sun came out and there was a very Brussels dramatic sky with pink, blue, purple, bright clouds and light right before it all went dark.
